In this day and age of frantically trying to lessen our impact on the environment, if you take a look around, you’ll see that not only are consumers doing their best to go green, but companies as well. The reason why it’s so important to encourage companies to go green is because by cutting down on the sheer amount of resources an average company uses on a daily basis can save tons of trees, plastic, aluminum, hazardous waste, and all the other stuff that companies go through.
Perhaps one of the more attractive features of going green for just about any company is the tax benefits. Uncle Sam will gladly reward companies who, for instance, convert their fleets (or a percentage of their fleet) into biodiesel or hybrid vehicles. By saving money on regular fuel prices, and from the added bonus from the Feds, companies who participate can take the extra money and invest more in their product, give out raises (even in these tough economic times) or countless other benefits.
While browsing the web, I started thinking about other kinds of companies that could make a real green impact on not only a company level – but the entire world. After a little bit of research, I came up with the absolute perfect example of a small company that’s making a huge effort to conserve Mother Nature’s resources…
It’s a company called Dirxion. Dirxion is one of the leading digital publishing companies around, and they gladly talk about and promote going green on their website, and detail all of the different ways they are contributing to the green movement by not only encouraging their employees to recycle, reuse, conserve, etc, but also the impact they’re making on the print industry.

And much more…
So for example, if a magazine decides that part of their subscriber base would rather have their magazine delivered in a digital format – that would mean tons of paper would be saved because less print issues would have to be created. Multiply that by hundreds or even thousands of customers, and we’re talking about a pretty sizable positive impact on the environment.
In addition to converting print into digital, Dirxion is also involved with the Arbor Day Foundation, and for every digital publication that Dirxion produces, they donate $1 to the ADF. That’s pretty generous, considering the numerous digital publications that they produce. They also regularly give their employees items and incentives to go green for themselves, like reusable shopping bags and other cool green stuff like that. Dirxion is one of the best examples of green companies that I’ve heard of so far, and I give them a huge thumbs up for their efforts.
If other companies would follow their strong example, we could start seeing some major improvements to our fragile eco-system sooner than we think.
If you know of any other companies that are making an effort to go green, we’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
